BIM lead — as-built modelling, coordination and full construction issue set.
Scope
Depot halls, pits and gantry steel modelled to LOD 350 with connection schedules.
Status
Complete. Forty-one clashes resolved on screen; none reached site.
A rail operator extending a maintenance depot around live tracks — long-span halls, inspection pits, crane girders and a forest of services, all to be built without stopping a single timetable. My model was the single source of truth.
One model, zero clashes
Starting from a point-cloud survey, I built the structural model and federated it with architecture and services for weekly clash reviews. Forty-one clashes were found and resolved on screen — gantry columns against cable trays, pit drainage against footings — before anyone mobilised. Clashes found on screen cost nothing; on a live railway they cost possessions you cannot buy back.
Drawings the site could trust
From the model I issued dimensioned general arrangements, sections, connection details and steel schedules under full revision control. The steelwork contractor told me it was the cleanest issue set they had fabricated from in years — and the depot entered service on programme.
